About
Hi, I'm Josh Kamrath.
I'm the founder of KAMRA, an independent consultancy that sets up, connects, automates and fixes MRPeasy for small manufacturers.
Who I am
I've lived in Minnesota all of my life. I married my high school sweetheart before we both entered the education field, where we worked for 3 years until a little thing called COVID-19 took over the world. I transitioned out of education into manufacturing, where I have worked in operations for 6 years. During this time I coordinated the implementation of MRPeasy for the company I work for. As much work as it was, I enjoyed the process so much that I wanted to help other small businesses get off of their spreadsheets and ad-hoc processes and implement something that would give them insight and control in their manufacturing business.
I have been implementing MRPeasy since 2025 for right around a dozen clients on various kinds of projects. From cleanup work on existing systems to ground-up implementations, I have seen many different businesses solve their business process with MRPeasy at the center of their solution.
What I believe
Businesses run best when their work is standardized as much as possible. I'm a systems thinker, so I look at the whole path from the customer's order to the shipment out the door, and I want your team to understand every step of it.
The more transparent your processes are, the faster your team can spot problems and absorb new challenges. Stopping to document work on the production floor can meet resistance, but every step relies on the integrity of the one before it. A wrong or skipped step can wreak havoc downstream.
Coming from education, I also believe your team does best when they learn to run the MRP system themselves, rather than having it done for them. I'll set it up and fix it, and I'll teach your people how it works so they can maintain it. I genuinely enjoy learning new things and teaching them to others.
How I work
I learned MRPeasy hands-on, inside working manufacturers: BOMs, purchasing, production and online orders. I set it up the way a shop floor needs it, not the way a demo shows it, using your real data and connecting it to the store, shipping and accounting systems you already use.
Projects are quoted as a fixed fee after a free 15-minute call, with a clear scope, price and timeline, so there are no open-ended hourly bills. Here's how a project runs. Almost everything happens over video and screen share. If I'm not the right fit, I'll tell you.
At the end of a project you keep everything: the settings, import files, how-to guides and the decisions we made along the way. And the person who builds your setup is the same person who supports it afterward, if you want that: an optional Service Agreement, month to month, that you can cancel by email any time. Service runs through the end of that month, with no prorated billing.
What I do
I help manufacturers get MRPeasy running the way their shop actually works. That means four things:
- Setup: items, BOMs, routings, workstations, stock and purchasing, set up for how you really build.
- Connect: online orders, shipping and accounting connected to MRPeasy and mapped correctly the first time.
- Automate: custom API workflows, and AI connected to MRPeasy or any of your systems, to remove manual steps.
- Fix: already on MRPeasy but not trusting the numbers? I find what's wrong and fix it, starting with what costs you most.
Why KAMRA?
KAMRA comes from my last name, Kamrath.
Kamrath is a spelling variant of Kamradt, which is usually traced to the German word Kamerad, “comrade.” The word goes back to the Latin camera, a vaulted room, and first meant the people who shared your quarters: the ones you work and live alongside. That is how I like to work with clients.
Name histories are rarely settled. Some references link the name instead to an old German word for a mill’s cogwheel, which was the inspiration for the cogwheel logo.
Independent
KAMRA is an independent consultancy. I'm not employed by, affiliated with or endorsed by MRPeasy. MRPeasy is a trademark of its owner.
